A poem on a birthday card that my mother gave me on my 17th birthday, which I have kept all these years:

Life is worth living
When things are going right
When everything is roses
And every day is bright
But when luck begins to falter
And contentment’s hard to find
It’s then that the spirits start to sag
And questions come to mind
It’s then we realize again
Faith is the “golden ring”
To give us the will to weather
The storms that life can bring
We know, too, life’s worth living
Every moment, every day
For there is a greater force to aid us
God is with us all the way
